Gareth Rayner is a graduate of Kirby College, Middlesborough where his culinary career began and now spans twenty-two years of experience.
Rayner received his unique experience from working at local pubs in his hometown then at Middleton Lodge where he oversaw their food of the multiple outlets there. He will now lead the Wynyard team to create seasonal, modern British menus, with a plot to plate twist.
As an exceptional professional in the industry, at Middleton Lodge, he was recommended for four rosettes and oversaw the opening of two successful restaurants which he claims are some of his most poignant achievements in his career thus far.
Gareth maintains that the key to producing quality food is always having salt, good music and a good atmosphere in any kitchen, be it home or work!
As Gareth himself admits, his childhood has influenced his culinary skills in a substantial way, allowing him to now use flavour combinations that impart original and unique qualities to dishes which will be implemented in his overseeing of the culinary direction of Wynyard Hall’s food vision that will be reflected in The Glass House as well as banqueting and events.
Gareth is convinced that food should bring ultimate joy to consumers and he believes that the creative approach to cooking creates a viable excuse for friends and family to get together to appreciate good food, the skill that goes into making refined dishes which are created with intense flavour to celebrate local produce and ingredients from our own edible kitchen garden.
Gareth says he is “excited to bring a new approach to the estate and modern British dining, ushering in an exciting new phase”. His inspiration throughout the years has come largely from Chef Gordon Ramsay, drawing from his professionalism, success and unparalleled passion for the industry.
