SIX Baltic, the iconic rooftop restaurant located at the top of Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, is set to undergo a stunning transformation in the New Year, emerging as ‘SIX Rooftop’ in early 2024. The refurbishment promises an exciting new chapter for this sleek and modern dining destination, poised to elevate both the culinary and aesthetic experience for guests.
The forthcoming transformation will introduce a host of enhancements, from a darker interior colour scheme casting a subtle allure, to upgraded lighting delicately enhancing the space to create a more immersive and tranquil atmosphere. Designed by Julie Chambers, the interiors will include an introduction of wooden and marble-style furniture, to not only elevate the aesthetic to new heights but also contribute to improved sound absorption, promising a relaxing and intimate experience for every guest. Renowned for designing some of the North East’s most exquisite and captivating venues Julie is bringing her wealth of expertise and creative eye to SIX’s renovation.
A new cutting-edge bar area is also in SIX’s renovation plans, seamlessly combining the modern aesthetic with comfort. The new bar will feature reeded glass and a stylish blend of stainless steel, marble, and wood, providing a comfortable space for guests to savour their drinks. Whether it is pre-dinner or casual drinks, the new bar will be a haven for those seeking a night in style.
SIX envisions the bar not just as a place to enjoy drinks but as a dynamic hub, enticing those looking for the perfect cocktail and establishing itself as the ultimate destination to visit. With an emphasis on creating a visually stunning and comfortable setting, the bar will become the hallmark of SIX, drawing guests in with its allure and ensuring that it becomes a key selling point for the venue, taking centre stage in the North East’s social scene.
The sky lounge, formally known as the viewing box, is a huge focus on the refurb. Introducing a dedicated space and menu of more casual dining, with small and large plates complemented by contemporary furniture and lighting to create a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere, with views that are guaranteed to take your breath away every time.
For those seeking a more intimate dining experience, the introduction of a Chef’s Table for a party of up to six will also allow guests to revel in the culinary magic happening in the kitchen.
‘SIX Rooftop’ is set to redefine fine dining within the North East, with Food Director Greg Lambert curating an eclectic menu celebrating the best of British cuisine and locally sourced produce.
Roy Ng, Operations Director at SIX shares his excitement about the transformation; “We are thrilled to embark on this exciting refurbishment at SIX. This transformation will not only redefine our physical space but also the experience that we offer, and we cannot wait to welcome guests to our new space.”
The refurbishment is set to commence at the beginning of January 2024, with the grand reopening scheduled for early February 2024, coinciding with SIX’s 15th anniversary—a crystal milestone.
