Collingwood Insurance, a national provider of learner driver insurance, has been awarded the Advanced Award Good Work Pledge.

The recognition by the North of Tyne Combined Authority celebrates Collingwood’s ‘exceptional dedication to fostering a work environment that prioritises employee welfare and community betterment.’

The Good Work Pledge, introduced in 2020 by the NTCA, recognises companies for their commitment to five fundamental principles, including ‘valuing and rewarding your workforce, promoting health and wellbeing, effective communications, and representation, developing a balanced workforce and demonstrating social responsibility.’

Collingwood has introduced a series of measures in recent years to better recognise employee contributions, actively support the physical and mental health of its staff and helping to cultivate a working environment built around maintaining employee wellbeing.

This award will see the company join 120 distinguished North East organisations, spanning large corporations to small businesses, that have earned the prestigious accreditation.

Laura Chappell, HR director at Collingwood, expressed her enthusiasm, stating: “The Advanced Award Good Work Pledge is a real source of pride for us. Our corporate values are rooted in integrity, collaboration, and making a positive impact and this is testament to that.

“The recognition highlights our ongoing dedication to not only our staff but also to our continual investment in North Tyneside and the wider region.”

Collingwood is a leading player in the car insurance sector, with a reputation of providing tailored insurance solutions to meet the diverse needs of its customers.

In the face of economic uncertainty, North of Tyne Mayor Jamie Driscoll commended the commitment exhibited by companies and charitable organisations participating in the Good Work Pledge Initiative.

Emphasising the distinction between jobs and quality employment – ones that offer stability, room for development, and equitable representation.

At a time of increasing economic uncertainty, North of Tyne Mayor Jamie Driscoll praised the companies and charities like Collingwood that have committed to the scheme – and called on more organisations to sign up.

He said: “There are jobs and there are good jobs. They’re not always the same thing. Do they pay enough? Are they secure? Are there opportunities to learn and develop and are staff fairly represented?

“As we stare down the barrel of a cost of living crisis, good work matters more than ever. Thank you to those companies and charities that have taken the pledge.

“Every employer in the region should aspire to be a good employer. Every employer should sign our Good Work Pledge.”

The Good Work Pledge initiative is accessible to all employers, offers a comprehensive roadmap for organisations seeking to enhance their employment practices and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
