Housebuilders can purchase dream homes at 75% of the market value thanks to a Miller Homes scheme.
The County Durham properties delivered under the housebuilder’s Discount Market Value (DMV) Scheme are nearing completion on the Fellside Gardens site, near Consett, which, when complete, will have 23 of the 3-bedroom Neighton semi-detached and terrace homes, with seven already sold.
DMV offers buyers a 25% discount on the properties helping homeowners clear outstanding mortgages, afford new houses in areas they have local connections and allowing others to take their first step on the property ladder.
The scheme also ensures long-term affordability, with homes resold at the same percentage discount.
The Miller Homes DMV Scheme offers:
Anita and Ian Taylor were among the first to take advantage of the Fellside Gardens DMV scheme. Mrs Taylor said: “One of the most important things for us was the ability to buy a beautiful new home at a price that allowed us to go mortgage free.
“As an estate agent I keep on top of houses coming to market and when I saw the cost of these properties, I couldn’t believe it. It seemed too good to be true, but it really isn’t!”
Mr and Mrs Taylor are moving from a family home in Shotley Bridge. Mr Taylor said: “The DMV scheme has real benefits for us. We no longer have a big garden to maintain, we’re moving from an old stone house to a fully insulated, energy efficient home, but most of all it means we’ve paid off our mortgage, which allows us freedom to do things we enjoy.
“We have a boat where we visit regularly and we’re are grandparents now, so having no mortgage means we have more time with our family, to have holidays and have fun.”
DMV eligibility can vary and the criteria is set by local councils. It can depend on a person’s local connections, household income or just where the home has been built.
Mr and Mrs Taylor move into their stunning new home at the end of February. “We love the area,” added Mrs Taylor. “You turn one way and its fields and woodland, the other there’s a town full of amenities, shops and restaurants. It’s a short hop to Durham – which we love – and really close to Newcastle too.
“This house puts us right where we want to be – closer to our daughter and her baby, which we’re delighted about. I can’t wait until we’re fully moved and settled.”
Only a few DMV sites remain for the 3-bedroom Neighton house type at Fellside Gardens, so interested parties should act quickly to secure a viewing: Fellside Gardens
Lauren Angus, sales director at Miller Homes North East, said, “This project is a fantastic opportunity for people with a connection to the area to secure a stunning new home at great value.
“Fellside Gardens is beautiful, close to local amenities, countryside and a short drive to Durham City. There’s been a huge amount of interest in the site since we announced our plans to create this new community. By offering these homes at 75% of their market value to locals, it helps safeguard communities for generations to come.”
Fellside Gardens is a 20-minute walk to Lanchester and 20-minute drive to Durham with a National Cycle Route also directly passing the development. The popular Knitsley Farm Shop is on the doorstep and there are large supermarket chains in Consett. With only a few Neightons left, interested parties are urged to arrange viewings as soon as possible: Here
