A leading North East housebuilder has bucked the industry trend by announcing a bumper summer for sales.
Miller Homes has 10 active developments across the region, as far afield as Bedlington, Seaham and Durham.
But thanks to an unusually busy summer, the developer has now sold 95 per cent of its 2025 stock with fewer than 20 homes left to sell before the close of the year – and some sites now completely sold out.
Traditionally a quiet period for house moving, the summer months have seen a surge in house purchases, which the developer puts down to a variety of factors.
“We’ve seen a recent drop in interest rates,” said sales director Lauren Angus, “and the fact that they are now below four per cent has obviously made a huge difference.
“But, on top of that, we have put in place probably the widest range of buyer incentives in the industry.
“So, whatever your situation – whether you are a first-time buyer, you’re downsizing or you’re looking to exchange your existing home for a state-of-the-art, energy efficient new build – we have a scheme in place to make that easier and more affordable.”
A range of deposit-based schemes is available for everyone from first time buyers to families, while Miller will also step in to sell the existing properties of those looking to downsize.
For current homeowners who are looking to make a move but are reluctant to face the, often stressful, task of selling their existing home, Miller’s Part Exchange and Assisted Move schemes are designed to make the process as easy as possible.
Miller takes on the admin and costs associated with selling, managing the independent valuation and marketing of a customer’s property.
In addition, an Own New Rate Reducer – which is a mortgage offering lower monthly payments for the initial period – allows buyers to reduce their interest rate while still owning 100% of their property.
And, if required, the housebuilder will purchase their home through its Part Exchange scheme, sparing customers the need to find a buyer and covering the cost of estate agent and advertising fees.
“It is also the case that buyers are increasingly appreciating well designed homes,” said Lauren.
“Miller is known for combining traditional styling features with the spacious, light and flexible interiors that modern buyers expect and for building homes to a very high standard – and that reputation is undoubtedly serving us well.”
