Could this be the ultimate Geordie wreath? Miller Homes has launched a competition across its regions to create the best wreath in time for Christmas. And TCL Christmas Shop in Seaham, County Durham has been working hard to produce the ultimate show stopping wreath for a front door. The challenge has been to ensure it embodies the area it represents, and Miller’s North East wreath is decked with black and white baubles, the colours of Newcastle’s beloved football club that are synonymous with Tyneside, as well as Northumberland’s famous monochrome tartan.

All the wreaths have been decorated to celebrate Miller’s local communities and highlight what makes each of the nine regions truly special, from the south of England up to Scotland.

The North East wreath will now be proudly displayed at Miller Homes’ Roman Fields show home in Corbridge before it becomes available to win via a #WinTheWreaths social media competition held by the home builder on its Facebook and Instagram pages. To enter, people simply need to vote for their favourite regional design in order to win that wreath.

And for those not lucky enough to get their hands on this exact Newcastle-inspired wreath, TCL has shared their top tips to be able to reproduce this creative knock-out at home:

“We think wreaths are at their best when they’re absolutely packed with interesting features, and that’s true of this one.  There’s an owl, a reindeer and lots of nods to the North East with the black and while baubles and features,” says Julie Barnes, director at TCL Christmas and TCL At Home.

Julie adds: “To make a wreath, start with a large frame with plenty of room to insert little knick-knacks and quirky decorations. You can source items from independent stores like ours or look online to find bespoke or original pieces. Make sure the wreath is bulked out with foliage first, such as leaves and flowers you might want to use, before adding your decorative elements, so they really stand out. You can either secure it all down with a hot glue gun, or tie everything together with cable ties or flexible wire.”

Aisling Ramshaw, Sales Director for the North East at Miller Homes, said: “With a number of developments in the region, we have great affinity with the people and place.  There are plenty of things about the North East to make everyone in the area proud, and we think TCL has done a wonderful job of capturing the main local ingredients to create an alternative festive style.”

More details will be released on Miller Homes’ Facebook and Instagram pages shortly as to how to win one of our wreaths, in the meantime it can be viewed at Roman Fields sales centre located at Cow Lane, Corbridge, Northumberland, NE45 5HZ.
