An exciting new campaign, The Caring Kind, launches across Redcar and Cleveland this month to celebrate professionals in the care sector and to raise the profile of the careers available within the industry.

The new movement was created to recognise those already working in the profession, and also tackle some of the misconceptions that prevent people from pursuing a career in care. It includes a dedicated website with easy-to-use access to job opportunities within the region, as well acting as a central hub for those already in the industry to share knowledge and engage with their peers.

Businesses and the public from Redcar and Cleveland are already getting behind the new initiative and, to launch the campaign, The Caring Kind will be turning the Redcar Beacon lights yellow on 5 December until 7 December, signifying the bright light those within the care sector provide to our communities every day.

There is still more that can be done and businesses and the public within Redcar and Cleveland are invited to take part in the launch and to help spread awareness.

The Caring Kind was created by care providers with support from Redcar and Cleveland Council as well as Anglo American through their Thriving Communities Programme.

Cabinet Member for Adults at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Cllr Lisa Belshaw said: “The Caring Kind highlights the valuable work carried out by our care industry professionals and the wide range of opportunities available in the region.

“The new dedicated website features a wide range of rewarding careers from care providers across the borough.”

Vicky Bolton, social programme manager, Anglo American added: “It has been a pleasure to have an opportunity to meet the extraordinary people already working within the care sector and hear some of the stories they have to tell. I have been amazed by how dedicated some people are and it is clear they love their job.

“The aim of this campaign was always to connect those people who are perfect for the sector to the many positions that are available and what has been created does just that.”

Michelle Jackson, managing director, Caremark: “Caremark has been passionate about supporting The Caring Kind, as we are very eager to improve home care services for people who wish to remain living in their own homes. There is a huge need for dedicated care assistants in the industry and we are hoping this piece of work will help us to fill some of those care vacancies. Home care is such a rewarding job, to be able to make a difference in people’s lives and give something back to the local community is just amazing.”

There are plans for the campaign to evolve and work with local businesses to create discount schemes and rewards. Any business that can offer support is asked to get in touch via www.thecaringkind.org

Any updates for the launch activity will be posted to the social media channels including Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Instagram @thecaringkindcommunity.
