Last month’s Feeding Families Networking Fundraising Event was a resounding success, raising awareness and support for food insecurity.

With over 108 businesses represented and more than 220 inspirational women in attendance, the event showcased the vast potential of this cause. The luncheon successfully raised over £11,000 and was held Wynyard Hall, Teesside.

Sarah McPhie, Head of Engagement at Feeding Families, remarked, “Being part of this event was a humbling experience. It is incredible to see so many strong, inspiring women come together for a cause that touches the lives of many in our community. The support and generosity displayed here today remind us of the power we have when we unite for a common goal.”

Notable speakers included North East Mayor Kim McGuinness, who shared her journey to becoming mayor and emphasised the importance of community initiatives like Feeding Families.

Pam Royle, a renowned British television journalist and presenter, captivated the audience with stories from her extensive career. She highlighted her encounters with Feeding Families and underscored the charity’s unique approach and impact.

Feeding Families is a food insecurity charity that stands out by reaching those who fall through the cracks without provision. Supporting over 300 local charities, schools, and organisations, the charity ensures that food is delivered directly to needy people without requiring them to travel or present elsewhere.

This includes those living in rural areas, those lacking transportation, those with mental or physical health issues, and those who have exhausted food bank resources or cannot access food banks during operating hours. The charity also caters to special dietary requirements, offers culturally appropriate food, and provides low-cook food boxes and rough sleeper packs.

Cello proudly sponsored the event, contributing to its success and outreach.

Feeding Families also announced its next fundraising event, which promises an unforgettable evening of entertainment and philanthropy. Scheduled for 28th September 2024, at The Grand Hotel, Gosforth Park, from 7pm until late, guests will be welcomed with an exclusive drinks reception followed by a sumptuous 3-course meal.

The evening will feature special performances by The Ryton Singers, the return of award-winning North-East magician Graeme Shaw, hosting by Gary Phillipson, and entertainment from the fabulous band Storm.

Sarah McPhie concluded: “We hope you can join us for an evening of guaranteed fun and entertainment while supporting a cause that makes a real difference in our community.
