Castle Building Services, appointed as the mechanical and electrical subcontractor on the project, has completed the first stage of a £60 million education facility in Winchburgh, West Lothian.
The development is part of West Lothian Council’s biggest ever investment in education which includes the construction of two secondary schools and a primary school, as well as a shared Sport and Wellbeing hub.
Winchburgh Academy, Holy Family Primary School and the Sport and Wellbeing Hub are complete and opened to pupils at the beginning of the new term in August. Sinclair Academy, the denominational secondary school, is set to be complete in October.
Castle Building Services was appointed by Morrison Construction on behalf of West Lothian Council to undertake the full mechanical and electrical works to the contract value of £11.5 million.
The project is being delivered by West Lothian Council and the Council’s development partner, Hub South East.
Richard Farrel, operations director at Castle Building Services, said: “This has been a significant project, one which will hugely benefit the community at Winchburgh. The first three buildings have been delivered over an 18-month period and completed ahead of schedule.
“Our team has delivered the full mechanical, public health, electrical and renewable technologies across the buildings, both internally and externally, as well as installing electrical vehicle charging points.”
