Two established entrepreneurs are looking to capitalise on the popularity of podcasting, with the launch of a new studio space for hire in Sunderland.
Rob Parsons and Matt Eyre, who founded successful videography business Roar Motion in 2014, have launched Audio Arcade, offering a stylish new space within Sunderland Software Centre, where podcasters can record audio and video clips.
The new studio, which has been fitted out with soundproofing to enhance acoustic quality, is set up with a number of high-quality microphones to capture crisp audio, and filming support can be provided if needed, with editing services provided by Roar Motion.
The space will be available for hire on an hourly basis, with reduced rates for half and full days. With neutral, contemporary décor, and the opportunity to brand the filming area to help companies make the space their own, Matt and Rob hope to support a range of organisations and people who are keen to find a place to capture engaging podcast content.
Matt said: “Podcasting can provide a brilliant route to audiences for people and businesses, enabling them to share insight, entertain and inform.
“Working in video production, we could see a huge rise in demand for podcasting space, and there seemed to be a gap in the market with limited high-quality options. It fits very naturally alongside our offer at Roar Motion, so we decided to launch Audio Arcade as a sister business. We’ve been working on the space for a number of weeks and we’re delighted with how it’s looking. The response from clients we have shown around has been brilliant.”
Matt and Rob – both of whom relocated to Sunderland to attend the city’s university and have now built their lives and business in the area – have already received enquiries from existing clients at Roar Motion to hire the space.
The studio has a relaxed lounge aesthetic with a variety of furniture choices, to allow for customisation between podcasts with professional standard podcasting mics.
Rob said: “We see so much opportunity for Audio Arcade, as there are so few high-quality places to record or film podcasts in the region.
“The space we have created is neutral enough to work for all kinds of businesses, but still represents a really dynamic, attractive place to film too, and there’s space right around the seating area to allow multiple cameras to capture different speakers from a range of angles.
“We have thought all aspects of the space through really carefully to optimise the finished product for clients.”
The business has been supported by the city council’s business investment team.
