Moosenwirt returns to Newcastle city centre Christmas markets for a second year

Moosenwirt, the beloved alpine pop-up Christmas bar and village, is back by popular demand for a second year on Grey Street in the heart of Newcastle’s city centre.

Building on last year’s overwhelming success, Moosenwirt is ready to light up the city once again with festive cheer and enchantment from Saturday 18th November 2023 – 2nd January 2024.

In 2022, Moosenwirt took Newcastle by storm, contributing hugely to the city’s award of the ‘Capital of Christmas’, as recognised by JOE. The Alpine Bar and Village, nestled on Grey Street, became a must-visit destination for those seeking the true spirit of Christmas. This year, Moosenwirt returns to recreate that merry magical atmosphere.

As a response to last year’s incredible demand and visitor feedback, Moosenwirt is introducing exciting new features for its guests. While entry always remains free, the addition of a second luxury igloo dome and the Elk Lodge ensures that advanced group bookings can be accommodated seamlessly. There are no hire fees; just a small minimum spend requirement to reserve your table in the heart of the Christmas Markets.

Mike Hesketh, Co-founder of Moosenwirt, shared his excitement for the return: “Last year’s Moosenwirt was a phenomenal success, the Alpine Bar really added to an already great festive feeling in Newcastle’s city centre which meant it was crowned ‘The UK’s Capital of Christmas 2022’. It’s great to be back on Grey Street again and bringing back the Christmas cheer!

“This year due to the demand for group bookings, we’re bringing in a second luxury igloo dome as well as our Elk Lodge snug for private groups to book in advance, bang in the heart of the Christmas Markets.”

Moosenwirt promises a delightful experience for visitors of all ages. Nestled outside Lloyds Bank on Grey Street, the Alpine Bar and Village is set to welcome guests daily from 10am until 11pm. As you step inside, the air will be filled with the sounds of live acoustic music daily, courtesy of talented local musicians, creating a festive atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

From local ales and continental beers to mulled wine, cider, spirits, cocktails, “fully loaded” hot chocolate, and refreshing cold soft drinks, Moosenwirt offers a wide selection of beverages that will satisfy your festive cravings. The cosy seating areas, complete with inviting fire pits, create the perfect setting for gathering with friends and family, ensuring a warm and welcoming ambience for all.

Nigel Holliday, Co-founder of Moosenwirt, jumped to explain that “Moosenwirt is a unique venue where all generations of the family can come together for a sing-along, a hot chocolate or a sherry at Christmas”

He then continues “Speaking of mulled wine, this year we are extending our range and importing from German many more mulled wine options such as ‘Rose Glühwein’, ‘Strawberry-Vanilla’ as well as ‘Baked Apple’ cider.”

For those seeking an even more intimate experience, luxury igloo domes are available for reservation, surrounding you in a magical atmosphere that captures the essence of the season.

While entry to Moosenwirt is always free, guests interested in reserving an igloo dome or Elk Lodge can do so on the official website at www.moosenwirt.co.uk
