It’s official: Porchetta is the roast of the season
As evenings get darker and the weather colder, it can only mean one thing: it’s roast dinner season. And this roast dinner season is all about Porchetta.

As evenings get darker and the weather colder, it can only mean one thing: it’s roast dinner season. And this roast dinner season is all about Porchetta.

New search data has revealed that interest in the Italian roast pork has surged, leading to much-loved Italian restaurant Piccolino, declaring it as the roast of the season.

Searches for ‘porchetta roast dinner’ surge every December, with a huge 67% spike year-on-year in December 2024, following a 33% increase year-on-year in October 2023. Meanwhile, searches for ‘Italian roast pork’ have also climbed 14% year-on-year, as Brits embrace a little Italian flair in their traditional roast dinners*.

As the festive season gets closer, so does the appetite for Porchetta, with searches rising from 59,000 in October, to 148,000 by the same December*.

While “traditional roast recipe” searches have dropped 20% month-on-month since January, demand for “roast dinner near me” has continued to increase, up to 74% since the start of the year, as people look to dine out for their Sunday dinner. Searches for “roast dinner restaurant” have also increased by 20% year-on-year as dining habits shift*.

With its roots in Italian heritage and passion for authentic dining, Piccolino is putting Porchetta front and centre this season. Slow roasted with rosemary, garlic and sage, Piccolino’s signature Porchetta roast brings a luxurious twist to the traditional British Sunday roast; perfectly paired with crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, sweet maple glazed carrots, braised red cabbage and seasonal greens alongside indulgent roasting gravy.

Porchetta joins the Sunday roast collection, which forms part of Piccolino’s Estivo menu that allows diners to enjoy two courses from £25 every Saturday and Sunday. Guests can choose from a variety of classic Italian starters or indulgent desserts to accompany their succulent Porchetta roast dinner^.

Mark Window, Group Executive Chef at Individual Restaurants commented: “We know that Brits’ love affair with a Sunday roast isn’t going away but this year, diners are looking for something different. Our Porchetta roast captures everything people love about a traditional Sunday roasts, elevated with our signature Italian flavours and flair. It is warming and indulgent, perfect for autumn/winter.”
