After 32 editions in the North East—and 35 across the North East and Yorkshire—this issue marks an exciting new chapter.

We return to our roots in property while continuing to bring you the best in business and lifestyle coverage from across the region. We’re proud to reaffirm our original mission: to deliver meaningful, engaging content that reflects the ambition and growth of the North East.

This edition also sees the return of our premium paper stock, enhancing the reading experience. As each issue remains in circulation for two months and reaches a wide regional audience, it’s important that the magazine reflects our commitment to quality in both content and presentation.

Our editorial approach continues to evolve, shaped by the feedback and insights of our readers and partners. We’re focused on creating a publication that speaks directly to the North East business community—one that informs, inspires, and celebrates regional success.

We’re delighted to include a four-page interview with Jag Singh Rai of Barclays Corporate Finance, who shares how Barclays is helping businesses thrive through funding and strategic support. Our collaboration with Barclays and Bradley Hall on The Titans—spotlighting 50 influential leaders shaping the region’s future—is also progressing well. With entries now closed, judging is underway ahead of the launch of our special summer supplement.

Elsewhere in this issue, we speak with Andrew Dawson, Managing Director at Castle Building Services, as he reflects on a milestone year that saw the firm reach 200 employees. Mincoffs Solicitors also provide expert guidance on key contract clauses that all businesses should understand in today’s fast-moving commercial environment.

The North East property market remains a core focus, with updates on new deals, upcoming listings, and commentary from regional experts. We also introduce Bradley Hall Auction Services, which brings fast and efficient online bidding to the market—offering new opportunities for buyers and sellers.

In the care sector, Ascot Care marks a standout year with the release of its first-ever Impact Report. On the high street, retail specialist Graham Soult and property consultant Will Reavley reflect on the future of Northumberland Street, one of the region’s most iconic shopping destinations.

We also cover the latest from UNW, the Newcastle-based chartered accountancy and advisory firm, which has strengthened its Corporate Finance team with the appointment of award-winning dealmaker Naomi Townsend.

Our lifestyle and people section is full of seasonal highlights. Chris Tomkins, Fenwick’s first beauty personal shopper and social media sensation, shares his journey and vision. Robertson Homes updates us on its luxury developments across the North East, while property expert Peter Bartley discusses April’s record-breaking house price growth and explains why now could be an ideal time to sell.

Spring and summer inspiration runs throughout this issue. Dobbies offers expert gardening tips and affordable seasonal finds. In partnership with Design North, we explore the psychology of colour—looking at how emerald greens and darker palettes can transform both home and office spaces. We also feature a selection of spring and summer recipes, curated seasonal style from Jobsons of Alnwick, and a handpicked summer reading list. Our residential showcase continues with some of the most impressive luxury homes currently on the market.

Our cover star this month is the iconic 33–39 Grey Street, captured at dusk. This landmark building has recently been acquired by new occupiers Bradley Hall and long-standing tenants Bar Luga in a major investment that reinforces both firms’ commitment to Newcastle city centre. Bradley Hall has secured 10,000 square feet of office space to support its growing team and head office expansion, while Bar Luga continues to operate its flagship venue.

Thank you, as always, to our loyal readers and partners. We hope you enjoy this latest edition of Portfolio North as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together.

Warm regards,
The Portfolio North Team
