Teesside property service business, The SDDE Smith Group has added three companies to its growing portfolio, which will see its 2021 turnover quadruple to £25m by the end of 2023.

Working alongside dynamic accounting firm Anderson Barrowcliff to manage all three transactions, the Group has created 15 new jobs and now has a 315-strong team operating across the region.

The firm, which includes the brands ‘Host and Stay’, ‘Grey-Smith Legal’ and ‘WOODSmith Construction’, provides end-to-end services for the real estate industry, and acquired Cochranes Law Firm in quarter four last year to join the company’s already successful legal offering. So far in 2023, the firm has already acquired ResiCentral – a property technology firm and Selwyn Hedgley – an established estate agent within Teesside.

Dale Smith, Owner of SDDE Smith Group, said: “Thanks to successful acquisitions we are continuing to grow our portfolio and increase our revenue each year, without compromising on the high quality full service offering we provide for our real estate clients.

“All of the acquisitions were managed by our accounting partner Anderson Barrowcliff, who offer a real hands-on, value driven, approach in getting transactions over the line. Within each deal they’ve shown their commitment to the SDDE Smith Group time and time again and we’re already working with the firm on sourcing our next acquisition.”

The established accountancy firm prides itself on its people-based culture in both its team and the service they provide, investing in strong professional development, health, fitness, mental wellbeing, and recreational activities for team members.

James Dale, Partner at Anderson Barrowcliff, said: “Business is ultimately people-focused and we strongly believe in providing to our staff the best possible working environment and the opportunity to develop first class advisory skills. This naturally cultivates a strong work ethic and the great working relationships we have with our clients.

“We’ve been working with the SDDE Smith Group since early-2022 and for us these aren’t just ‘acquisitions’, they’re key steps in our client’s overall growth model and goals for the business. We’re currently making inroads with a fourth acquisition and look forward to assisting the Group in building its portfolio in-line with ambitious company targets.

“Over the last few years, we’ve seen an uprising in dynamic entrepreneurs from the region, such as Dale and the SDDE Smith Group team, conquering and disrupting their market sectors and it’s a privilege to be part of their business journey.”

Anderson Barrowcliff was established in 1912 in the heart of Teesside, and although over a century has passed, the firm’s strong core values and commitment to the region remain the same.

James added: “We attract the best people, invest heavily in them and their working environment, and therefore are able to provide an indispensable full-service offering to our clients, many of which we’ve looked after for generations.

“Within the last year we’ve hired 10 new team members, including 7 trainees and are currently recruiting within our auditing and tax teams.”
