A North East cleaning firm is marking a new phase of growth following a series of major contract wins and the expansion of its workforce.
Belvedere Commercial & Residential Services, founded in 2020 by Katie Owens, has increased its staff to 64 as demand continues to rise across commercial, residential, education and construction sectors.
The Gateshead-based company has secured a number of high-profile after-build and ongoing cleaning projects in recent months, including work at Newcastle Airport, Redhills Miners Hall and the Theatre Royal with Meldrum Construction, and projects for Overbury at Newcastle University, the Lumen Building, Barclays Bank House and St James’ Gate. Belvedere has also delivered services for Castle Construction at St George’s House in Team Valley and its Hebburn offices, in addition to projects with Aptus at Benton House, Newcastle University’s student accommodation and Sunderland University’s Murray Library. Other appointments include Bay View House Care Home for the Malhotra Group, Aycliffe Village Primary School, Spennymoor School and Promotion House for Esh.
The firm is currently undertaking the after-build for Aptus Construction at Newcastle Airport’s new Stack Newcastle development and has recently secured the contract for Moor Court in Gosforth. Belvedere also continues to support various schools, youth centres and community facilities for the Orthodox Jewish community. In addition, the company is preparing to begin the British Airways refurbishment project on Scotswood Road following full site clearance.
Belvedere has further expanded its portfolio with new contract wins, including Turner and Townsend’s offices in Newcastle and Stockton, Moore Bennett Accountants in North Shields, Likewise Floors at Team Valley, XBM at Newcastle Business Park, Regents Plaza, an extended student accommodation portfolio with Homie Group, Meldrum’s office facility in Dunston, Castle Offices in Hebburn, Ateres School in Felling, Platinum Lettings, Belle Vue Estates in Low Fell and PCN Offices.
Katie Owens credits the company’s growth to its emphasis on service quality. All staff undertake a three-month development programme, hold CSCS cards, are DBS checked and are trained specifically for both occupied and construction environments. To support consistency and accountability, all full-time staff also receive private healthcare through Belvedere and performance is monitored via the Blip App, ensuring clients receive full value for money.
Belvedere has also invested in sustainability, with its full fleet now converted to electric vans.
“Many organisations already have cleaning contractors in place but are not satisfied with the standard being delivered,” Katie said. “We concentrate on reliability, care and detail. Our team is well trained, well presented and well supported, which means we can maintain a level of service that clients can genuinely rely on.”
The business positions itself as a premium provider, focusing on long-term service quality rather than competing on price alone. The company has also expanded its gardening and external grounds maintenance service, enabling clients to source both internal and external upkeep from a single provider.
“Our growth has come from referrals and repeat business,” Katie added. “Clients want a contractor who works with them, understands the building and cares about the finish. We expect high standards from our staff, and because we invest in them, they take pride in their work. That is what makes the difference.”
Belvedere is now seeking to build relationships with new clients across all commercial sectors. The company encourages businesses—even those with existing cleaning contractors—to arrange a meeting to explore how Belvedere may improve standards, efficiency and productivity.
Belvedere continues to work with commercial property managers, contractors, schools, student accommodation providers, care environments and professional services offices across the region. The company expects further growth over the next 12 months as the construction and commercial sectors continue to recover.
