Premium professional services business, Knights, has supported Buston & Maughan Limited (B&M) in securing new investment that will enable the company to expand and deliver further regeneration across the region.

Headquartered in Crook, County Durham, B&M employs more than 90 people and works across social housing regeneration, delivering essential heating, kitchen, and bathroom refurbishments to more than 11,500 homes each year.

The business has now secured minority investment from private equity firm Foresight Group, paving the way for organic growth and future acquisitions. The deal will also strengthen governance at B&M, with the introduction of a chairperson and enhanced leadership team.

Knights acted as legal advisors for B&M on the deal, drawing on expertise from across its Newcastle and Leeds offices. The transaction was led by Corporate Partner, Luke Philpott, supported by Knights’ national corporate team.

Luke Philpott, Corporate Partner at Knights, said: “We’re proud to have supported Buston & Maughan on this significant investment, which will not only support the company’s continued growth but also bring wider benefits to the North East.

“With three of our offices based in the region, it’s particularly rewarding for us to advise on a project that will drive social housing refurbishment and contribute to the local community.”

Knights is the UK’s largest regional legal and professional services business, with 32 office locations including a growing presence in Newcastle and Teesside. This deal underlines the firm’s expertise in advising on complex private equity transactions, combining local knowledge with national scale.
