Andrew Jackson – Sarah Parker, senior solicitor

Law firm Andrew Jackson has today announced the appointment of Sarah Parker, who joins the firm’s growing team as a senior solicitor, strengthening its offering regionally and throughout the UK. Sarah’s expertise across a range of property law issues, along with her knowledge of agriculture and rural affairs, will add further value to the firm’s client offering.

Sarah (pictured right) commented: “Having worked for another law firm in the region I am aware of Andrew Jackson’s excellent reputation for property work, as well as its growing recognition as being among the region’s leading providers of services to the rural farming community.

“I am excited to join the firm and look forward to using my experience to provide in-depth legal expertise and pragmatic advice, which is tailored to the needs of the businesses and individuals we work with.”

With several years’ property experience, Sarah has advised commercial clients, including rural landowners and farmers, on a wide range of property matters including assisting clients with their solar panel farm and wind turbine projects, Selion land transactions, farming partnership agreements and Agricultural Holdings Act tenancies.

Geoff Phillips, partner and head of Andrew Jackson’s property team (pictured left), added: “Sarah is a valuable and welcome addition to the team, strengthening the expertise and services we offer to our clients.

“She understands the particular complexities involved in rural land transactions and negotiations, so it’s great to have her on board and to strengthen our offer in this area.”

BGEN – Greg Duncan, group health and safety director

Warrington-headquartered BGEN has appointed Greg Duncan as group health and safety director.

Prior to joining, Mr Duncan held various senior health and safety roles during his more than 20-year career at companies including Balfour Beatty.

He said: “I have joined BGEN at an exciting time following its recent rebrand from Boulting, with the company firmly focused on the future.

“I am looking forward to supporting BGEN’s next generation engineering solutions with forward-thinking and strategic health and safety support. I have a blank canvass to help evolve the company’s approach and make a real difference.”

Chief executive Robin Whitehead said: “As a business we’ve always placed paramount importance on health and safety.

“This board level appointment, a first for the company, will give Greg the platform to further improve our health and safety systems. Health and safety will remain our number one value.”

Malhotra Group PLC – Mary Watts and Zoe Limon, paralegal

Malhotra Group PLC, which has care and leisure divisions along with a large property portfolio, has taken on two new paralegals, to help deal with its ever-increasing workload. The new part time appointments are giving a real opportunity to two law students at Northumbria University, who will be working for the company while continuing their studies.

Mary Watts, originally from York and Zoe Limon, originally from Saltburn-by-the-Sea are now working from the company’s base at Malhotra House, Grey Street, Newcastle. Their appointment sees them now part of a five strong team, looking after all the various aspects of the Malhotra Group PLC’s legal requirements.

Anu Kaura, head of legal and group in-house lawyer, said the company’s continued growth required a bolstering of the team. “Five years ago it was just me on my own. But now we are tending to do more and more in-house so it’s important for us to have our own dedicated team. We are dealing with more and more complex work so we really need to have a strong resource.”

Both Mary and Zoe impressed the Malhotra Group PLC with their experience and commitment and will be working across all sectors of the business.

Mary commented: “This gives us a great opportunity to work at an extremely busy company with a whole range of diverse interests,” she said. It means we are able to get some real experience in a number of different sectors and also will hopefully be able to help give a great deal of support to the team.“

Zoe added: “I was delighted when I heard that I’d been chosen to join the Malhotra Group. It’s a fantastic opportunity to work in a real legal environment but still be able to finish my studies at the same time.”
