Water and energy efficiency company Cenergist’s chief executive officer (CEO), Mitesh Dhanak, has been appointed to the steering group of the UK government’s new Energy Efficiency Taskforce.

The taskforce will devise a workplan to help reduce total UK energy demand by 15 per cent from 2021 levels by 2030 across domestic and commercial buildings and industrial processes.

It is co-chaired by Lord Callanan, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the newly created Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and NatWest Group CEO, Alison Rose DBE.

Cenergist enables its clients to reduce carbon emissions and water consumption to meet sustainability goals and comply with regulation using its energy, district heating and water consultancy services.

The Washington-based company supports water companies, local authorities, social housing providers and commercial clients improve their energy and water efficiency and thereby cut their carbon emissions. As well as the UK, Cenergist also operates in Holland, Spain and India. 

Commenting on the appointment, Mitesh said: “It is a privilege to have been invited to be a member of the Energy Efficiency Taskforce’s steering group.

“Improving the energy efficiency of buildings is often the most cost-effective route to cutting carbon emissions and energy bills, as well as reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels.
