Hebburn-based Castle is playing a role in the transformational change taking place on Wearside, supplying all mechanical, electrical and public health services to Culture House, which will sit at the heart of Riverside Sunderland.
Along with installing a 50m2 photo voltaic system, Castle will install all mechanical, electrical and public health facilities, including an energy efficient VRF air conditioning system, providing heating and cooling throughout.
Castle, winner of the Constructing Excellence North East SME of the Year 2023 Awards, was awarded the contract by leading UK construction and infrastructure services company, Kier, to work on the landmark building, which will provide a vibrant, dynamic and engaging space for residents and visitors.
The 6,691m2, four-storey Culture House will feature exhibition, learning and community spaces. Led by Sunderland City Council, it will recognise the city’s rich heritage, while inspiring a passion for learning and knowledge. It will be a place of ambition making and creativity, stimulating a passion for reading for all ages and offering opportunities to try new technologies, meet authors and artists and find out more about what’s going on in Sunderland.
