A commercial law firm has announced several appointments and promotions following its move to a new, larger Yorkshire office.

Square One Law relocated to a new 3,000sq ft Grade A office at Leeds 7 Park Row in July 2026.

The move has supported a number of new hires and promotions, with Jill Anderson joining as a Senior Associate, Jane Johnston as an Associate and Jonathan Morris due to join as a Property Associate from Shoosmiths later this month.

Richard Barrett has been made a Partner and Ben Powell, who had previously been a property paralegal with the business, has commenced his training contract with the firm’s property team.

Dylan Hooper, who joined Square One Law in October 2023 as a paralegal, started his training contract in September 2024 and has this month qualified as a Commercial Property Solicitor, becoming the first trainee to qualify in the Leeds office.

Matthew Thompson, Commercial Property Partner and head of the Leeds team at Square One Law, said: “We first opened our Leeds office during the Covid pandemic in 2020 with just two members of staff, so it’s fantastic to look at how far we’ve come in six years. We’ve built a brilliant team here in Yorkshire and our move to a new, larger office in the heart of Leeds is a real reflection of that growth.

“We’re continuing to invest in the team, both through recent promotions and new hires, and the new office gives us the space we need to keep growing while continuing to deliver the high-quality, client-focused service we’ve built our reputation on.

Richard Barrett joined Square One Law as a Property Associate in May 2021 and following successive promotions, is now set to help deliver the next phase of the company’s growth after being made Partner.
