The team behind renowned Tomahawk Steakhouse and RIO Brazilian Steakhouse, celebrated for their exceptional dining experiences, are expanding their culinary portfolio with the launch of an innovative new Spanish restaurant concept in the North East.
The fresh new standalone venture, La Terraza is set to open on Tuesday 21st October and will bring authentic Spanish flavours and vibrant dining culture to Yarm’s thriving food scene. La Terraza will take over the unused upper floor of the Tomahawk Steakhouse in the town, transforming the space into a bold new tapas concept.
Building on the success and reputation of the Tomahawk Steakhouse chain Tom Sturman, Director and Co-Founder at Tomahawk Steakhouse is excited to introduce the new concept that embraces the spirit of Spain through a carefully curated menu of traditional tapas, signature lunch and dinner dishes, a Spanish led wine list, Sangria and expertly crafted cocktails, with free-flowing Tapas every Sunday from 12-4pm. The new restaurant will offer guests a unique social dining experience, perfect for sharing and savouring the bold, rich flavours of Spanish cuisine.

The ground floor restaurant will remain as the popular Tomahawk Steakhouse, and La Terraza will run independently with a new team led by General Manager, Sebastian Carracedo.
Sebastian added: “I’ve really enjoyed infusing a sprinkling of my Spanish roots into the venue and we can’t wait to open and welcome guests. La Terraza will be the destination to gather, explore, and savour the rich, bold flavours of Spain.”
Building on years of success in the restaurant industry the owners are passionate about delivering exceptional dining experiences, La Terraza will complement the restaurant portfolio which includes eight RIO Brazilian Steakhouse’s and eleven Tomahawk Steakhouse sites including the popular Boat Club in Durham.
La Terraza will have a soft opening to the general public from 9am, Tuesday 21st October and will be open from 9am until late, 7 days a week. An invite only VIP launch night will be held on Friday 24th October 2025.
