Earlier this month, Chi Onwurah, Labour Member of Parliament for Newcastle Central and West, visited Deloitte Newcastle’s Quayside office to meet with new starters and senior leadership.

The visit coincides with the arrival of 26 new graduates, BrightStart apprentices and industrial placements to the firm. She heard from Deloitte’s office senior partner, Stephen Hall about Deloitte’s commitment to fostering technological innovation and creating high-value jobs in the North East.

The addition of the September starters follows the June launch of Deloitte’s regional technology centres that provide leading-edge technology enabled business solutions. Around 750 highly skilled technologists, including 40 in Newcastle, have already taken up roles in these centres, including Belfast, Cardiff and Manchester locations –  with the headcount projected to double in size to 1,500 within three years.

Chi Onwurah MP, said: “It was great to visit the Deloitte Newcastle office and meet their new graduates and apprentices, to discuss their career development and Deloitte’s plans for the North East. Deloitte’s new technology-focused roles are a fantastic contribution to Newcastle’s technology sector.”

Stephen Hall, Office Senior Partner at Deloitte in Newcastle, said: “Welcoming our new graduates and apprentices reinforces Deloitte’s position as a leading employer in the region and highlights our unwavering commitment to the career development of our people. This year’s intake is exceptionally talented, and we are excited to see what they will achieve with us.”

Alongside its position within the business community, Deloitte Newcastle has recently agreed a partnership with Family Gateway, a Howdon-based charity that provides a range of services to strengthen families facing challenging circumstances. A range of events including volunteering, sponsored activities and office-based initiatives are planned to support the charity to deliver its vital work.
