A leading North East law firm has advised on the sale of a picturesque West Yorkshire hotel, as part of a hotel group’s ongoing restructure.
Luxury venue, The Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley has been acquired by Aura Hotels – the hotel division of Rambler Group Holdings – with Newcastle-based Mincoffs Solicitors advising the seller, Ailantus.
Built in 1859, the Victorian hotel has 63 bedrooms and is situated within six acres of grounds and woodland, making it a popular venue for weddings and conferences.
The Ailantus group owns a number of hotels across the North of England, including the George Washington Hotel, Holiday Inn Gosforth Park and Quality Hotel Boldon.
Mincoffs Solicitors have a longstanding relationship with Ailantus going back more than 25 years and corporate partner John Nicholson led the deal, working closely with Ailantus director Neel Chawla throughout the transaction.
He was supported by corporate solicitor Grace Hughes, licensing and gaming partner Matt Foster and real estate associate solicitor Keith Ravenhill.
“This is the latest in a series of disposals as the Ailantus group restructures and we were delighted with the support we received from Mincoffs throughout,” said Neel.
“We have worked with John Nicholson and the team for a number of years and look forward to working together again on future opportunities.”
John said: “We were delighted to advise Neel and the team on the sale of The Craiglands Hotel, which will be a fantastic addition for the Aura Group.
“We have supported Ailantus throughout their ongoing restructure and this most recent transaction has put them in an excellent position to continue their expansion across other areas.
“It was our pleasure to deliver a successful result for everyone involved and we look forward to supporting Neel on further transactions in the future.”
