Seafront BID calls out to the community

Sunderland seafront residents, keen to help shape the area’s future, are being invited to join a new committee.

The recently formed Sunderland Seafront BID has two places on its committee for community minded resident representatives.

And, along with inviting applications for the committee, the BID is hoping to hear from anyone keen to volunteer in a variety of initiatives and projects along the Seafront.

The Sunderland Seafront BID was given a mandate following a successful ballot in March and aims to promote the area to both residents and visitors.

Resident committee members will be invited to attend regular BID committee meetings and offer their input on proposed projects and events.

No previous experience is required—just a genuine interest in the future of the seafront and a commitment to moving things along in a proactive and positive way.

The BID is also recruiting volunteers to support good works at the seafront by assisting with community initiatives, clean-up days and events that enhance the experience for everyone who lives, works at and visits Sunderland’s seafront.

Again, no experience is needed and the volunteer roles provide flexible time commitment.

Sharon Appleby, Chief Executive of both BIDs, said: “As the BID continues to invest in improving the area for businesses, visitors, and locals alike, we recognise the importance of ensuring the resident’s voice is heard at every level.

“These voluntary roles provide a unique opportunity for residents to contribute to key decision-making and help steer initiatives that enhance the economic and social life of the seafront.

“We’re committed to creating a seafront that works for everyone. By bringing residents directly into our committee, we hope to strengthen collaboration and ensure our projects reflect the needs and aspirations of those who live here.”
