For many, the world of luxury yachting is seen, from the outside looking in, as an aspirational lifestyle reserved for the rich and famous – but don’t let the celebrities of Instagram fool you.

You may be surprised to learn that a yachting holiday is more affordable than you might think and superyacht specialists, West Nautical, are here to debunk this myth.

When a cabin on a luxury cruise liner for two people can cost upwards of £10,000 per person,
plus expenses and activities, a luxury yachting holiday starts to become much more cost-effective, particularly when shared with a group of eight to 12 friends or family. With the added benefits of complete privacy, a totally unrestricted itinerary is custom tailored to you and your party, including your own personal chef and dedicated crew to create special memories that will last a lifetime.

Who?

Anyone can charter a superyacht. At West Nautical, we believe that yachting is the pinnacle of what a holiday can offer. An unparalleled combination of luxury, privacy, adventure and personalised service that simply cannot be matched by any other form of travel. We are dedicated to transforming your dreams into reality and we invite you to embark on a journey where the sea becomes your canvas and luxury knows no bounds. Our dedicated charter team will work to your specifications and budget to book your dream yachting holiday.

What?

With a luxury yacht, not only are you staying in some of the most finely designed spaces in the world, you are also ensured complete privacy for you and your party, alongside unparalleled access to the world’s best locations. Every yacht features ensuite cabins, an interior dining and lounge area and lots of outdoor space throughout the decks for recreation and dining alfresco.

Your charter activities can be as relaxed or as adrenaline filled as you like. All yachts come equipped with a range of water sports equipment and, for those in need of relaxation, some larger yachts even have a trained spa therapist as part of their regular crew, alongside onboard gyms, saunas, steam rooms and more.

All luxury yachts have a qualified captain and crew, including an experienced chef, capable of creating a range of cuisines to match your tastes. The stewardesses are trained in a range of service styles, from silver service to the more casual ‘family style’.

Prior to your charter if there are any special activities or trips you wish to incorporate, these can be planned in advance and built into your charter, depending on your destination.

When?

You can charter a yacht all year round. Depending on the location, some areas and locations are more favourable at certain times of year due to the seasons and weather conditions. For example, the Mediterranean is ideal for yacht charter May to October, whereas the Caribbean is perfect for yacht charter November to March.

Where?

Yachts are available to charter in any destination in the world. They can vary from cruising the Mediterranean in the summer to doing a diving holiday in the Galapagos, or an adventure in Costa Rica. No destination is out of reach.

Some popular destinations include the South of France, the Amalfi Coast, Corsica and Sardinia, the Balearic Islands, Greece, Croatia, Turkey, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

Why?

Chartering a yacht is one of the most incredible holidays available, offering complete privacy for you and your guests and a dedicated crew who will ensure your every expectation is exceeded. Your private chef will craft culinary masterpieces tailored to your tastes. Enjoy gourmet meals in the open air, on the sun deck, or in the luxurious dining areas.

Yachting also gives you the freedom to design and customise your itinerary with activities suited to you and your friends and family. You will be able to visit exclusive destinations from the privacy of your own yacht.

Yachting is one holiday with multiple destinations. Enjoy a spectacular sunrise in one destination and by evening relocate for sunset in another. A yacht charter allows you to experience multiple destinations in one amazing holiday.

What would it cost?

When thinking of the cost of a superyacht holiday, it might seem out of reach, but here are some comparisons based on a week-long yachting holiday in a variety of popular locations to show that it is more affordable than you might think.

A 20-metre catamaran in The Balearic Islands:

  • Six guests in three cabins
  • Charter is inclusive of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks as well as basic water toys and equipment
  • There is a crew of two including a captain
  • Base charter fee – £20,000
  • Plus 13% VAT (location dependent) and estimated expenses – £29,200
  • This would work out at £3,650 per person for one week, including expenses

A 30-metre motor yacht in the South of France/Italy:

  • Eight guests in four cabins
  • Charter is inclusive of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks as well as basic water toys and equipment
  • There is a crew of four including a captain
  • Base charter fee – £50,000
  • Plus 21% VAT (location dependent) and estimated expenses – £75,500
  • This would work out at £7,550 per person for one week, including expenses

A 50-metre motor yacht in the South of France/Italy/Turkey:

  • 12 guests in six cabins
  • Charter is inclusive of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks as well as extensive water toys and equipment
  • The yacht is fitted with a jacuzzi, gym, spa, pool, outside bar and two lounges spanning three decks
  • There is a crew of 12, including a captain
  • Base charter fee – £300,000
  • Plus 21% VAT (location dependent) and estimated expenses – £153,000
  • This would work out at £37,750 per person for one week, including expenses

Versus cost of well-known shore-based holidays:

While we acknowledge the cost is not to be taken lightly, when compared to luxury shoreside holidays the price of a yacht holiday becomes less inaccessible.
