Sachins – A warming & flavoursome tandoori butter chicken recipe

Cook a restaurant-style curry in your own kitchen with this simple Sachins recipe, featuring delicately marinated tandoori chicken and a rich tomato-based sauce.

This dish is the perfect comfort food. It is creamy, flavourful and mild enough to be enjoyed by the whole family! Serve on a bed of fluffy basmati rice or with a side of warm naan bread.


Ingredients

For the tandoori chicken:

  • 3 chicken breasts cut into the same size
  • 2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp greek yoghurt
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp jeera powder
  • 1 tsp kasuri Methi

For the sauce:

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • One or two green chillies
  • 2 finely chopped onions
  • 1 tsp garlic-ginger paste
  • 1 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp ground jeera powder
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi
  • 2 tbsp cream
  • 100g butter

Preparation/marination:

  1. Mix the ingredients for the tandoori chicken thoroughly in a bowl
  2. Keep in the fridge ideally overnight or at least a few hours.

Cooking instructions:

  1. Cook chicken in the oven and set aside to make the sauce
  2. Heat oil in the pan and add the chopped onions
  3. Fry until golden and add 1 tsp garlic-ginger paste
  4. Pour in the tomato sauce and red chilli powder
  5. Mix and cook until the sauce thickens
  6. Add the garam masala and crushed kasuri methi
  7. Add butter and simmer until melted
  8. Add salt to taste
  9. Blitz sauce
  10. Add tandoori chicken
  11. Add cream and garnish with fresh coriander
