Katherine’s Florists, which has been a welcome sight in Gosforth and Newcastle for over 50 years, has been restored to the region’s retail space following the sale of the business by the region’s largest independent property firm, Bradley Hall.

Katherine’s Florists began trading from Newcastle’s Grainger Market in 1970 before opening outlets in Gosforth, Fenwick, Eldon Square and Leazes Park Road.

Working with global brands such as Newcastle United Football Club, Aston Martin, Dior and Newcastle University, the business has grown from strength to strength.

After 54 years at the helm, Helen Nikzad has hung up her apron, passing the baton to Jen and Blair Hutchison, part of the team behind local florist Jones and Jones.

The Gosforth branch, which sits on the area’s popular High Street has been sold as a lease assignment, transferring the business name and stock to the Hutchisons, while Leazes Park Road has been let to the pair, who previously worked as wedding florists for couples across the region.

Northern specialist property firm, Bradley Hall, supported Katherine’s Florists to sell the business to the new owners.

Associate Director, Callum Armstrong commented on the deal: “It was a pleasure to support Helen and Farshad in selling their family business- a staple of the North East for over 50 years- to the Hutchisons.

“We had a lot of interest in the business and its properties, and I wish Jen and Blair the best of luck with their business in the future.”

Associate Director, Callum Armstrong, and Assistant Surveyor, Henry Bowers, headed up the commercial agency aspect of the sale. James Thompson, Senior Chartered Building Surveyor, provided the Schedule of Condition.

James Thompson, Senior Charted Building Surveyor, said: “My team were pleased to provide the Schedule of Condition for the sale of this business. This sale is a prime example of our success as a full-service property firm, ensuring we provide end-to-end services to commercial and residential clients.”

With offices in Newcastle, Gosforth, Durham, Morpeth, Alnwick, Sunderland, Leeds, Tees Valley, Birmingham and Manchester, Bradley Hall work with commercial clients across the North and beyond and offers a clear, full-service approach to property transactions.
