Netflix’s regency drama Bridgerton captivated audiences with its enchanting tales once more when it returned for season three in May. Dobbies Garden Centres has everything you need to feel as regal as Penelope Featherington, aka Lady Whistledown, who is set to take centre stage this season.

We caught up with Dobbies plant buyer, Nigel Lawton, and Seasonal Buyer, Anna Service, to find out how you can get the regencycore aesthetic and create a garden that represents new beginnings, the theme of the season. Strap in for this horse and cart ride as we take you through their tips.

Plants

Drawing inspiration from the opulence and elegance of Bridgerton, Nigel recommends lush floral arrangements to transport you into a world of romance and refinement, reminiscent of the beloved Netflix series.

Nigel recommends; “Choosing lucious roses, cascading wisteria and other exquisite blooms for your space, will evoke the beauty and fragrance of the Bridgerton era, and can be adapted for gardens of all sizes.”

The regal gardens seen in the show feature wonderful variations of colour. Nigel tells us that spring is the perfect time to brighten up your garden. Shades of red and orange and pink are set to be popular this upcoming season, and fit perfectly with the regal theme, reflecting Penelope’s growth and blossoming romance in the new season.

“The first plant I would pick up for a Bridgerton inspired garden is Dobbies’ Rose ‘Sweet Princess’ blooms, the subtle pink flowers have a mild fragrance and will fill your garden with colour all summer long,” says Nigel. “They are perfect for planting in borders or larger pots.”

Garden furniture

Enhance your garden’s regal charm with ornate furniture inspired by the grandeur of Bridgerton’s sets, reminiscent of Penelope’s evolving elegance. From elegant lounging on the Helena Garden Sofa Set to perfectly placed benches, every piece adds a touch of sophistication to your outdoor oasis. Anna recommends the Helena Sofa Set, £1,199 and the Cashbah Chair, £129, both new to the Dobbies collection for 2024.

Garden décor

Complete the regal look with whimsical garden décor that exudes regal charm, mirroring Penelope’s intricate social circle. Discover ornate water features, intricate decorations, and other accessories from Dobbies that transport you to the refined world of Bridgerton.

Nigel tells us; “Water features can add a touch of sophistication and charm to any outdoor space. Our Hampton or Richmond water features would be the perfect addition to any garden or patio, creating a calming, soothing sound and a relaxing ambiance.” Whether hosting a garden party or enjoying a quiet moment surrounded by beauty, every moment has the opportunity to become a romantic escape, echoing Penelope’s romantic aspirations.

Accessories

Add the finishing touches with accessories that capture the essence of the regency era, echoing Penelope’s attention to detail. Choose from delicate bird feeders, vintage-inspired shelves, and other accents that elevate your garden to a realm of romance and refinement.

Anna shares her top tips for effortlessly blending blooms and accessories as she says, “Adding a garden shelf is the perfect way to offset any plants in pots and help them stand out from the rest. Dobbies’ Helena garden shelf unit is a timeless piece, reflecting the beauty and elegance of Bridgerton, allowing customers to create their own slice of regal paradise, with space for pots, books and more.”

As fans eagerly anticipate the next chapter of Bridgerton, Dobbies invites them to embark on their own romantic journey in the comfort of their gardens. With Nigel and Anna’s regal garden picks, every enthusiast can experience the allure of the regency era first-hand.
