The team behind one of Newcastle’s best-loved Christmas attractions are adding some extra festive spirit – with the news of a whole host of exciting new experiences.
Moosenwirt, the pop-up Alpine bar will be back once again in its prime position at Grey Street, bringing some real seasonal fun to the city.
And EVNT Inspiration which organises Moosenwirt has now unveiled what else is new for 2024, for both adults and children alike which includes a magical Christmas village and Santa Stories – a unique encounter with Father Christmas.
That includes the creation of the North Pole around Grey’s Monument which will see a number of igloo pods built on a raised platform, each one seating up to 12 people which can be booked ahead for any group wanting to enjoy a Christmas celebration.
The pods will be available for a 90 minute slot, with the payment redeemable on food and drink, with people also able to walk up and use the pods, subject to availability.
Around the pods – which will have stunning views of the whole area – there will also be a number of stalls including a mulled wine hut which will offer a range of seasonal drinks.
Visitors will also be able to buy a unique limited edition Newcastle Festive Mug which they can not only keep but will also be able to refill at a discounted price.
EVNT Inspiration is also running the new Christmas Village at Old Eldon Square, which will offer a whole host of family friendly activities from November 16 right through to Christmas Eve.
Visitors can enjoy live music and children’s entertainment at the Rocking Reindeer Stage, with a chance for schools and local choirs to perform by contacting the organisers at [email protected]
Youngsters can also sign up for the Elf School – a 30 minute workshop where they will learn how to make a Christmas decoration, sing songs and make magic dust – ending with them receiving a certificate to show they are a qualified elf.
One of the last remaining vintage carousels in the UK – dating back to 1896 – will also take up residence at the village, where there will also be a letterbox for children to post letters to Santa.
There will be two Santa virtual reality experiences; one of a sleigh ride to see Father Christmas and the other a ski jump.
At the centre of the village is Santa Stories, a double tipi where young people can have the full Santa experience.
They will be greeted by elves and then be given some tasks by Santa to see if they are on the naughty or nice list and will also get a certificate at the end of the experience.
Mike Hesketh of EVNT Inspiration is delighted to be bringing so much festive magic to the city.
“We know how popular Moosenwirt is every year so we are building on that and bringing in whole host of amazing new elements for both adults and children,” he said.
“We hope we’ve got something for everyone and we can’t wait for it all to open and everyone gets to experience it for themselves.”
Entry to the Christmas Village is free but there are costs for the individual elements. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. For further information and to book for any sessions or for the pods at Grey’s Monument visit www.moosenwirt.co.uk
