Gateshead-based gym Spark Health and Fitness is going from strength to strength, celebrating over 50,000 visits from clients since opening its doors in 2015.

Established by Managing Director Mark McPherson and operating from premises based in Low Fell, the gym, founded on Mark’s vision of helping people to live healthier, happier lives, has become an integral part of the Gateshead community, supporting clients on their personal health, well-being, and fitness journeys.

Offering a range of fitness programmes designed to complement people’s lifestyles and fitness goals, the gym also caters to those wanting a more flexible approach to exercise with a selection of budget-friendly pay-as-you-go classes suitable for all fitness levels and abilities as well as the option to work with a personal trainer.

Managing Director Mark McPherson said, “We are delighted to have achieved so much in the 7 years we have been open. We set out to create a friendly gym with a supportive atmosphere where people could come to achieve their fitness goals, whatever their age or ability, and we have achieved just that. The gym has come a long way since we opened in 2015, and we are thrilled to have worked with so many clients on their personal fitness journeys”.

Focussing on the wider fitness picture, Mark and his team have expanded the services offered at Spark, offering nutritional advice and guidance, as well as providing specialist advice on diet and lifestyle. Taking a holistic commitment to health and well-being, the team is focused on the benefits of exercise on mental health, regularly contributing to the popular Low Fell publication The Advertiser providing free information for the Gateshead community on all matters well-being related.

In a further nod to the support and encouragement provided by the gym, The Spark Annual Awards Evening is set to be held in November at Gateshead Rugby Club. The awards celebrate members’ achievements and recognise the challenges that some have overcome to reach their fitness goals.

Mark said “We are proud of what we have created so far and are focussed on investment in the gym and the services we are able to offer as we move forward. We have recently installed new external signage at the premises and continue to bring in new equipment. We have a great team and dedicated clientele and are excited about what the future holds”.
