Milestones and Merriment: Editor Jessica Laing shares her thoughts on Portfolio North’s 30th issue
And just like that, the autumn season has arrived once again, bringing with it a sense of rest and reflection.

And just like that, the autumn season has arrived once again, bringing with it a sense of rest and reflection, as it always does, along with the anticipation of what lies ahead.

I’ve always found something comforting about these cosy in-between moments. Change feels intentional and measured, paving the way for the warmth and celebration of the festive season just around the corner.

This period is also a reminder that growth doesn’t always have to be loud or fast. Like the falling leaves, we can shed what we no longer need and prepare ourselves for the richness of what’s to come.

It’s the time to let go of what no longer serves us and shift our focus to the goals we’ve been carefully tending, both personally and professionally, readying ourselves for the new opportunities that await us (but not before plenty of mince pies and Buck’s Fizz).

In this issue, we’re celebrating everything this unique time of year stands for. From inspiring success stories from the region’s business landscape to expert insights from the world of digital, investment and property, along with exclusive interviews with architect and TV presenter, George Clarke, and Alex Partridge, podcaster, ADHD advocator and entrepreneur, we bring you feel-good news and tales to nourish the soul.

In the world of lifestyle, we uncover the wonders of Whitley Bay and Whitby – two terrific towns for autumn walks, food and drink and more – and meet the faces behind some of the region’s most-followed names in fashion, all of whom share the stories behind their thriving Instagram accounts, as well as their top styling tips for the months ahead.

We also share what we’re watching, reading and listening to this month —packed with recommendations to nourish your downtime as the year comes to a close. After all, if you can’t hunker down with a good book or podcast this time of year, when can you?

All this, plus a special feature to mark and to honour our milestone 30th edition. Reflecting on our journey so far, we’ve compiled a list of our top 30 articles from the last 29 editions—featuring our most-read stories and those that have broken ground in North East business.

It’s a celebration of the content that’s resonated most with our readers and a reminder of the incredible stories we’ve had the privilege of sharing – and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we’ve enjoyed bringing it all together.

Finally, for those in search of a little festive cheer, we also gift you plenty of ideas to help you start your holiday preparations early—from delicious get-ahead recipes from local tutor and food writer, Jane Lovett, to Christmas market recommendations, gift guides and a round-up of the best Boxing Day walks on our doorstep.

As ever, we’re grateful to you, our loyal readers and clients, for your continued support, and we thank you for being part of our journey through these 30 editions.

From all of us at Portfolio North, we hope you have a wonderful festive season.
