A family-run funeral directors is set to expand after Bradley Hall helped it find a new headquarters in Newcastle.

Mark Wait Funeral Services has taken over the lease of a 3,520ft² unit on Station Road, Gosforth.

Founded in 2014, the company was set up by Mark who has been in working in the funeral profession for 41 years and now runs the company with his daughter Kelsey and son Rhys.

The firm, which hopes to be ready to move into its new headquarters in January, chose the unit as it looks to upsize, with plans to create an office, interview room for arrangements, chapel of rest and reception area.

“We have been looking for a while for a bigger space that would allow us to bring everything under one roof, but we wanted it to be the right space,” said Mark.

“The unit on Station Road ticked the boxes for us. It has a big enough footprint to allow us to create all the areas we want on one site and also has garage space for our vehicles.

“There’s a bit of work needed on the space to realise our vision but we’re confident that longer term it will have huge logistical benefits and help us work more efficiently.”

An independent funeral service that is not part of any national company and not incorporated, Mark opened his own funeral home as he believed there was the need in the area for a more personal, bespoke service.

His daughter Kelsey, who joined the family business in 2017, assists in the administration of the business and holds a Certificate In Funeral Practice for arranging and conducting funerals

Rhys joined the firm in April 2021, he helps in the day to day running of the business and oversees the presentation of the fleet of funeral vehicles. He is currently working towards gaining his Certificate in Funeral Practice.

The venue was marketed by leading North East commercial and residential property agency, Bradley Hall.

Richard Rafique managing director of commercial at Bradley Hall, said: “We’re delighted to have worked with Mark and Kelsey on this deal.

“It’s always rewarding to be able to help enable organisations expand and grow, which in turn has a positive impact on the regional economy.”
