Find out more about the charity, its mission and how you can help…

The mission

Yorkshire Children’s Charity exists to give disadvantaged children and young people a chance to live an inclusive life, filled with fair chances and equal opportunities to be their best, have fun and thrive in the world around them.

Dedicated to making child poverty a thing of the past and to make life more manageable for families that are struggling, it offers financial aid, emotional support and friendship to those in need, no matter their background or circumstance.

Making a tangible, measurable and long-lasting difference is the foundation on which the charity is built. The charity’s beneficiaries are at the heart of everything it does and every decision made is done so with transparency, purpose and a beneficiary-first approach.

Behind the scenes, a passionate and experienced team work hard to meet the expectations of the charity’s supporters and sponsors, giving those who donate their time and money a say in how it is used to help shape and transform the lives of Yorkshire’s children and communities.

Who it helps

The charity provides consistent care and support to thousands of disadvantaged children and young people across Yorkshire, irrespective of social background.

The ultimate objective is to ensure no child is left behind due to issues such as ill health, physical and mental disability and poverty.

The team works closely with children and their families, as well as Yorkshire’s schools and communities, to offer tailored support in big and small ways to help children become who they want to be and get to where they want to go in life.

The charity is aware that children’s needs may change as they grow up and support is offered at every turning point throughout their development.

How it helps

The charity offers a fresh take on giving back and offers much-needed aid and support to Yorkshire’s children and their families in a number of ways.

Monetary grants are offered to individuals in need of wheelchairs and other specialist equipment, as well as all the necessities that many of us take for granted, such as warm clothing and new shoes.

Schools and organisations – and the people that make them – are also offered financial support, as well as practical help through the charity’s fundraising campaigns and trail-blazing project work, to help better the services and practicalities they provide.

How you can help

Yorkshire Children’s Charity receives no government funding and relies on the support and generosity of the people of Yorkshire to help it in its quest to transform the lives of the region’s children.

Through individual fundraising and volunteering, local people can help to make a real difference. The charity works closely with those looking to raise vital funds and is on hand to talk through fundraising ideas and help make them a reality.

People can also make individual donations and leave a gift to Yorkshire Children’s Charity in their will.

Yorkshire’s business and property communities, meanwhile, can offer their support through various corporate fundraising events and challenges, as well as the charity’s Great Yorkshire Build initiative, which brings people working in the professional services together to help build bigger and better schools and facilities for children across the region.

The charity’s calendar of awards events and social gatherings, which run throughout the year, give businesses and individuals the chance to make change on a big scale. Each one delivers on fun as much as they do fundraising and all tickets purchased help to change lives.
